Foster Care

Becoming a foster parent is a way to make a big difference in the life of a child or youth and your community.

There are many reasons that children and youth need foster parents. Children and youth may be placed in foster care if their parents cannot offer a safe home. Sometimes a child will be placed in foster care if their parents die without choosing a guardian, or if their parents decide adoption will be the best choice for their child.

The role of a foster parent is to provide a nurturing environment for a child that is unable to remain in their family home.
