Positive Parenting

It can be challenging being a parent. Having a foster family can add additional stresses and adjustments for parents and children. This web page offers a number of resources that may assist you in parenting in a positive way.

One of the keys to success is having honest and open communication with children and youth. Although it is important to set limits and have consistent discipline, it is also helpful to provide an environment of acceptance where a child feels free to express their opinions.

Dealing with teenagers brings its own set of challenges. Many youth will experiment with substance use and sex. It’s important to try to give them the facts they need to help them make informed choices.
